A universe created for fear.
Eresys is a release by Dragonis Games for Microsoft Windows, developed by Ares Dragonis, which has a clear inspiration in the works of H.P. Lovecraft, an American writer with a certain passion in his works for horror and fiction. The game, therefore, follows this line of terror, in addition to the intriguing action that leads us to venture into the story.

The game, I tell you, will still receive many additives to complement the gameplay and relies heavily on co-op to be interesting, play single player even has its charm, to know a little of the story and view the graphics and sound effects delivered by developers. However, everything here is made purely for the multiplayer style, so to have a better experience, calling friends will be an important task and, by the way, quite fun.

First of all, I must mention a little of the first impression I had when I started the game. Well, the look and the sound of the main menu pleased me.

Furthermore, when I opened the tutorial, I was a little scared to think that this would be the layout, which has the characteristic of being a considerable mess due to the excess of information. That said, I considered, on second analysis, to be a very complete tutorial and still managed to understand that the game would have several different techniques to be explored.

Defined Theme

The arts of Eresys have clear inspiration in the occult, including, if you somehow know the cosmic entity created by H.P. Lovecraft, Cthulhu, which would bring the end of the world, you will soon understand what I'm saying, the references could not be clearer and this only has to add to the artistic aspect of the game. The game also has hidden and dark rituals, and sacrifices, and worship.

The graphics of the environments and especially the entities are pretty insane, just by looking at them and our vision is blurred, the fear goes running down our spine and brings chills throughout the body, we will not want to draw attention. In this context, the immersive environment comes, with a huge lack of clarity and limited lighting resources, we will often pass through dangers without even knowing it.

Furthermore, apart from these positive details, some of the characterizations, especially of the characters, were grotesque and disproportionate, both of the doll itself and the rest of the art presented. In the first mission, as a cultist, we must talk to an NPC who gave me a very bad first impression of Eresys' look.

In Excess

I must confess that my gameplay took a while to get started due to the large number of techniques presented, not to mention the fact that playing in a single player this process will take even longer. In this perspective, I will then mention the main mechanisms delivered by the developers, and to start, I will talk about my favorites: the eye and the ear that warn of danger.

They are located in the bottom portion, right in the middle of your screen, and have an essential function for the game, the ear will show the sound level that our character is submitted, alerting us to certain imminent dangers around us, while the eye will be related to the entity and the noise we produce, depending on how its shape and color are. So for your survival, paying attention to these details is simply indispensable.

Just to mention, it was funny the first time I came across one of these peculiar enemies of ours. I will not quote exactly what happened to avoid spoilers, but in such cases, it is important to remember what to do, whether to confront the entity or simply run relentlessly until the threat is gone.

Continuing on, the lantern and the oil are also essential, the first one is responsible for the illumination (obviously), but it performs a defense against entities, which will not be able to cause damage to you while it is on, so these evil beings will destroy it and thus be able to kill you. The oil, on the other hand, has a more offensive role, with the power to increase the intensity of the light and cause some damage against entities that, after a certain amount of life is lost, will retreat.

If you have ever played the Slenderman game, you will easily recognize one of the mechanics of our missions, as here we will also have to collect leaves scattered around the map while running away from beings. However, in Eresys, the number of items to be collected is much larger, there will be 30 pages scattered all over the island, which when complete can banish the ancient entity (!), as well as flashlights (in case ours breaks), oil, and tubes to collect blood from bodies (necessary for sacrifices). The game has several of these rituals, it should be noted, which are also explained in the tutorials.

In addition, I think we can still mention the possibility of character customization, with items being unlocked during the gameplay, and also the presence of safe zones, where it can be our salvation many times, characterized by the presence of a huge cultist stake.

(Blood Altar)

There is a narrative

As much as there is an excess of mechanics, other aspects should be highlighted, because the developers did not limit themselves only to the gameplay aspects, but also paid attention to the creation of a story that somehow helps in the immersion of the player and motivates him to keep trying.

Basically, the narrative revolves around how all the entities on the island came about, which happened as a consequence of the expulsion of a member of a certain cult that opened a Portal to the Void on the island. So, you with other fellow cultists must send these entities back to fight all the chaos, however, in order to do so, you must use all the mechanics available to perform this task.

Other points

Besides everything mentioned, it is worth mentioning that the sound feedback of the game is no different from the graphics system, that is, it is very immersive and brings the element of terror very much to the fore, the feeling of tension is immaculate at all times and any movement we make during gameplay. Also, I would like to point out that the game's AI was extremely precise and the entities are very intelligent, not to mention how horrifying and insistent they are in wanting to kill you.
