GTA 6 surpasses viewing records with second trailer

Even with the official postponement to May 26, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI continues to dominate the industry spotlight. According to Rockstar Games themselves, the game's Trailer 2 became the biggest video launch of all time in terms of views on the first day — not only in the gaming universe, but also surpassing any movie trailer to date.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rockstar stated that the second trailer of GTA 6 accumulated an impressive 475 million views on all platforms in the first 24 hours. For comparison, the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer recorded 365 million views, The Fantastic Four: First Steps reached 200 million, and the recent Superman trailer, released in 2023, accumulated over 250 million, being the most watched in DC and Warner Bros history. None of them come close to the performance of the new GTA 6 video.

On YouTube, the number is more modest, but still significant: 85,276,196 views on the official Rockstar channel by May 8, 2025. This falls behind the game's first trailer, released exclusively on the platform, which hit 93 million views in 24 hours and became the biggest non-musical release in YouTube history.

This media impact also directly reverberated in the music industry. The track "Hot Together", released in 1986 by The Pointer Sisters and used in the second trailer, saw a 182,000% increase in global Spotify streams in just the first two hours after the video's debut.

“Grand Theft Auto cuts through pop culture like almost nothing else,” commented Sulinna Ong, global head of editorial at Spotify.
“Music has always been synonymous with the series from the beginning, so it's great to see fans, old and new, connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

The success of the trailers reinforces the expectations of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, that GTA 6 will be the biggest entertainment release in terms of revenue — surpassing not only games, but also cinema blockbusters. The development budget for the title is estimated to exceed $1 billion, an unprecedented amount for a single game to date.

Despite the uncertainties caused by the postponement and the absence of gameplay, the numbers already indicate a scenario of practically guaranteed commercial success. Rockstar also confirmed that the trailer was captured on a base PlayStation 5, signaling an effort to showcase the game in real execution conditions.

While the wait extends until 2026, the industry closely follows every new detail revealed. So far, the two trailers of GTA 6 have been enough to generate theories, technical analysis, and a level of interest rarely seen even among the big names in the market.
