Relive the nostalgia of the 90s in this playful world, full of colors and puzzles.
An outstanding indie project

Raccoo Venture, developed by Diego Ras and published by QUByte Interactive, was released on December 14, 2023, leaving early access for its official release, and is available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and Series S|X, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Raccoo Venture is a 3D platform game, full of puzzles, with a very entertaining story and beautiful graphics for the genre, all of which draw strong inspiration from classic games from the 80s and 90s, doing a surprising job given all the quality offered.

A pronounced legacy

At the start of the game, we are shown some cinematic and have a brief introduction to the story, which by the way is very simple, but that's not a negative point by any means, despite being simple, it's very entertaining and complete.

Our grandfather's chessboard has gone missing, and our goal is to find it, along with the pieces, of course. However, our adventure is full of enemies, puzzles, and platforms and the story is always running in the background.

A very interesting feature is the possibility of changing your character's look extremely easily, you just need to locate the new looks during the game, either by opening chests or solving puzzles that are immediately available, go home, and equip them there's no advantage in terms of gameplay, but the looks are so fun and varied that it's worth trying them all out.

Right from the start we are introduced to the game's villain (the reason for the theft of the chessboard) and from there our story begins.

The most impressive thing about this project is its heritage of classic games, and it's so enjoyable to play that you can easily spend hours and hours entertained, everything works in a very dynamic way, you can just pick up the controller and relax.

Excellent gameplay

As I said earlier, the game recaptures the emblematic characteristics of classic games, especially in terms of gameplay. It's very easy to find inspiration in Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario, especially in its Nintendo 64 version, and other legends of the genre.

My only criticism would be of the camera's behavior, which sometimes takes on strange angles that cause a bit of confusion, but I believe this is just a matter of the player's habit.

Regarding the difficulty of Raccoo Venture, I can say with certainty that it is not a complex game, with very difficult puzzles, nothing that the challenges have a relatively low difficulty, with logic and a little creativity prevailing, in addition, attention is a factor that changes the game completely, since there are several hidden places with rewards to redeem, and if the map is not explored properly, many items will be left behind.

The game has an original idea in its style, but it always makes a point of emphasizing its origins, and being a game from a very small studio, the commitment and quality on offer here are worthy of great note.

Raccoo Venture, in general, is enjoyable to play, it's not repetitive to the point of causing discouragement and laziness, and it gives a very good feeling of animation, tranquility, and calm, especially when solving the puzzles, especially the one that I believe is my favorite, maneuvering the fruits/vegetables to strategic places so that we can add them to a cauldron to receive rewards.

Expectations for a promising launch

In my opinion, the release of Raccoo Venture is a breath of relief that the gaming community needs, as well-optimized, high-quality games are unfortunately becoming rarer every day.

Being a platform, exploration, and puzzle-solving game, Raccoo Venture is a must for veterans who want to experience the nostalgia of the 90s, as well as for people who are just starting to play today, since it's such a friendly game that makes you want to play and play endlessly.

I recommend that you experience the game on the controller, the controls are straightforward and very responsive, and playing on the keyboard and mouse is possible, but for the genre, it could be more comfortable.

The game is localized in several languages, fortunately, as more people need to have contact with this type of release, and nothing beats touring the world, right?

A pleasant surprise

My experience with Raccoo Venture was excellent, the fun this game gave me was great and I think it's a great purchase, with nice graphics, a simple but funny story, excellent gameplay, and fun puzzles, it's a very good and relaxing recipe.

The game is very smooth, any PC can run it with quality, and it's also available for various consoles.

It's worth noting that its soundtrack is very good, the songs are very reminiscent of classic games, but without the 8-bit feel, they are lively and fun songs, reminding me a lot of Donkey Kong, the game has no dubbing, but only murmurs, a feature that I liked, it gives a lighter air in this case.

For this review, the game was experienced on PC, using the Steam platform. Thanks to QUByte Interactive for providing the access key.
