A Byking Inc. developed an action game with the theme of the acclaimed anime Jujutsu Kaisen. Released on February 2, 2024 by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., the title proposes that various types of powers and witchcraft abilities be combined in battles.

Jujutsu School

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is a title that brings the story of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen and merges it into an exciting turn-based battle game. The narrative revolves around Yuji Itadori, a teenage student who participates in an occult club at school, until one day his life turns upside down.

There is a cursed object on site, and two more people with Yuji. They decide to remove the seal to "practice" for the club and discover more information, only to come across a not so friendly finger. Out of curiosity, they remove the seal and immediately begin to suffer the consequences.

Outside of the school, there is Megumi Fushiguro, a sorcerer from the Jujutsu school (which is a training ground for sorcerers). He prepares to intervene in case something goes wrong and needs to do so urgently after an "innocent" mistake by the students.

In the anime, Jujutsu Kaisen has a striking story that captures your attention. In Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, it is no different, showing how the story mode in a fighting game can be present and provide all the necessary context for the work.

Cursed Energy

In this title, in addition to valuing the narrative, there are cutscenes that bring more excitement and fluidity to complement. It is during the scenes that we see the interaction of the characters and how much they can help each other by combining powers.

This is very present in the world of Jujutsu, since each character has a different direction. Some use cursed energy to strengthen their attacks, and others, unable to manipulate energy, use common weapons (but with great efficiency).

And here is no different, they can use various fighting styles to combine attacks and gain an advantage over the opponent. It is a very common and effective strategy, but there are characters who, working together, achieve a better result than expected.

This is the case of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki, who in the work become great friends and end up trusting each other more after their first battle together. In Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, this battle is portrayed in the middle of the chapters, where we are in control of Nobara.

The Jujutsu sorceress has the great ability to reserve cursed energy, being an expert in manipulating it. Unlike Yuji, who relies more on brute force to fight. With this, they have a perfect combination in the proposed scenarios, being possible to combine attacks (thus requiring the use of numerous buttons) and end everything in the most efficient way possible.

Another character, Megumi, also adds his summoning powers to be part of the trio of main characters in the work. The three, working together, get along very well and find numerous ways to finish fights quickly.

Something I found cool is that the game is not just about the story mode, but also some sections in the menu that add more content, such as the store, which makes it possible to buy various items that can help you during the disputes, or even aesthetic items like costumes.

In addition to that, you can also choose the modes "Free Battle", "Online Versus", "Online Co-op" and "Online Lobby", for those players who are fans of frenetic battles, being possible to play with friends or even train alone.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is a very well explained game, and especially well recommended. Everything you need to do to complete the missions will appear on the screen and there is no way to get lost. I believe it is a good mechanism to include new players (who may not be used to turn-based games, but want to experience the game because of the anime), while not hindering those who already enjoy games of this genre.

Therefore, it is done through missions, and with each one you complete, you will have unlocked new characters (who will appear in the story and help you in some way), new items, and learn new spells and moves.

In the anime, as it is more fluid and continuous, this happens with a little more time. Battles last about one or two episodes, and here, in the game, it seems that everything happens in just one chapter. After the disputes, the characters undergo training to improve themselves, and it is the same sense as what happens here.

The fighting system is very cool, with several keys to be controlled and having a sequence to be used. You have the option to train alone or in pairs with 2x2 spell battles, using joint attacks to synchronize blows and come out on top against your opponents.

Vibrant

One thing that caught my attention a lot is that in Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash the drawings are very colorful. Bright colors in the same tone as the anime are present in all elements, making it seem like we are watching the anime while interacting with the characters at the same time.

The schools, the costumes, the battle locations, the abilities, everything is exactly the same and characteristic. I think everything was perfectly portrayed and set, without adding or taking away anything.

With that, the music from the original work is also present and accompanies us at all times, bringing the feeling of movement and a lot of action. The reproduced sounds, identical, of the powers, the dubbing of the characters, and the enemies were essential to complement the entire title.

Furthermore, the fluidity of the game was also essential for the experience. Taking into account that the game requires a minimum of 4GB of RAM, Intel Core i3-2125 processor, and GTX 660 Ti graphics card, and I played on a PC with 16GB of RAM, Intel Core i5-9400F processor, and GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, I did not experience any bugs or glitches, the game ran perfectly.

With all the involved narrative, the characterization and personality of the characters, the story could be very well developed in a dynamic action game. You can choose how to play and how to complete your missions, while discovering more of the narrative and evolving as the episodes progress.
