Ghosts of New Eden is an action RPG game developed by Don't Nod and published by Focus Entertainment. The game is set to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on February 13, 2024.
The fall of lovers
Banishers: Ghosts of new eden tells the story of a couple of banishers, a kind of ghost hunter, named Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, who accept a contract with an old friend of the couple and their former mentor, who asked for their help to eliminate a curse in New Eden.
The story unfolds from the arrival of both as soon as they discover that their former mentor had already passed away and now they would have to gather parts of the research he had done. Until a terrible incident happens and now Red goes alone in search of a way to free his beloved and end the curse.
The game is very focused on lore, it is definitely the type of game where the main focus is to tell the player a story, not excluding gameplay, but mainly dedicated to the plot, just like other RPGs that are very famous and acclaimed, like the witcher, which captivates the player.

But the story is not simply told through dialogues and cutscenes, it also uses a very interesting method that encourages the player to explore the environments, constantly the player can find cards, notes, books, and other items that speak more about the location or a character.
This detail is very interesting because, if you ignore them, you will be able to understand the story and enjoy the game smoothly, but if you are a more curious player and want to delve deeper into the plot, you can discover much deeper things about the characters and places through these interactions, which also release comments from the protagonists and nearby NPCs.

And everything is very well structured and harmonious so that the game tells the story without tiring the player, it is very good and very engaging, but the fact that it alternates a lot in how everything is told between cutscenes and interaction, in addition to the fact that you can choose various lines of dialogue that will lead to completely different responses.
Purging evil
Even though the story is the focus, and much of the time we are playing is focused on dialogues and scenes, there is also an extremely fun and fluid gameplay, especially when it comes to combat, which unfolds not being something very complex, but still manages to challenge the player.
The commands are very simple, similar to those of a souls-like, basically we have options for strong and normal attacks, defense and dodging, in addition to healing, which flow very well and the commands are very responsive, making it easier for the player to quickly get the hang of it and enjoy the game better.

Initially, the combat seemed too simple to me and maybe not suitable for the game, but in the first fight against a boss, I realized that it fits very well because it is in these fights that the challenge really appears, where you must pay close attention to the boss's attacks to avoid unnecessary damage and end up having to restart the fight several times.
Banishers: Ghosts of new eden also has a ritual system, depending on the player's needs in a mission, they can choose between different types of rituals, and they need materials to be performed, so it is up to the player to explore the world around them and collect what is necessary on the map to perform them.

Another interesting thing that the game has is the hint system, besides being another mechanism to tell you the story of the game, talking more about the perception of some characters and their needs, they happen when talking to NPCs and interacting with objects, and thus the hints are released to help you complete the objectives.
Behold New Eden
Certainly one of the main points of this game is the graphics. The construction of the landscapes, the details of the cities and the characters is absurd, it was one of the most beautiful games I have played recently, something that I loved doing at certain moments of the gameplay was simply admiring the landscapes of the game, or noticing certain areas, because I always found some detail that I wouldn't notice by looking quickly.
The cutscenes are also not far behind, I believe I can say that the same characteristics that I mentioned about the graphics you will find in the cutscenes, the characters always seem very natural in the dialogues, in their facial expressions and gestures, something that greatly deepens the immersion in the lore.

The only flaw I found in this part, actually not in this part, but in the whole game, is that at times the characters' clothes clip, it's kind of funny to see the character's arm literally going through the cloak he is wearing, but I believe that this will be fixed by the official release of the game.
The audio part of the game doesn't disappoint either, the sounds of the environment and especially the dubbing of the characters are excellent, everything seems very natural and correct, the sounds of the environment help to create the morbid atmosphere of the village plagued by the curse and the dubbing delivers the characters' intentions with naturalness.

Therefore, I believe that the game is highly recommended, but for players who don't enjoy much dialogue and prefer more action, it may not be a game for you, however, if you like a good story and immerse yourself in it, beautiful graphics, and a smooth gameplay, certainly Banishers: Ghosts of new eden is a game for you.
