Green Hell VR - Survival in Virtual Reality | Review
The story repeats itself
To start, here we will not see a new history like it was the continuation of Green Hell made for other platforms, the narrative line is the same and the changes can be seen in new mechanics and adapted to work in a VR glass. Just a reminder, I already did a full review of some aspects of this difficult game that are going to make you pull your hair to be able to advance in the game, of course, depending on the difficulty that you selected, so, for those interested only in the game without the VR experience, I’ll let an access link:
Now, if you are curious to know how Green Hell, with such versatility, dimension, and numerous different mechanics adapts itself to this technology dazzling and loved by the public, come with me to know a little more.
Adaptable mechanics
Well, here the developers were creatives and tried to enjoy the reality as much as it was possible, for example, to use walkie talkie you have to put your hand on your left chest and push to hold the equipment, when you have it, you are going to use the other hand to move and to talk to the character’s wife, this mechanism is identical for the book that Jake uses for several things, such as crafting, plant utility, and missions, but this time you have to pick it on the right side of your chest, and the map you can access with the cursor, a positive point!
Besides that, the backpack is really interesting, we can use the pockets with the movement of taking the item to your pants, and it’s also possible to take the backpack and place it in front of us, so we can use as we wish, just choose a partition(food, items, etc) and organize it as we prefer.
Sound and art of the enormous Amazon
As you may know, Green Hell is placed in the beautiful Amazon Forest, really well represented by several types of plants, animals, and different environments, also placed in the VR version. Here the environment audio, soundtrack, and visual beauty are impressive, the augmented reality makes us feel as if everything is real, Jake’s problems are our problems, his injuries are ours, his hungry too. A full experience, with a differentiated immersion.
Movements sync
Besides the said mechanics, I can’t forget to mention the uncountable movements that we have to do to be able to accomplish our goals. First, let’s talk about the combat, if someone is watching you play this person will have good laugh, you have to hit snakes, spiders, and once in any possible way, and also, you’ll have to break a coconut, a tree, everything like it was in real life, showing why VR is so loved and desired.
For example, to drink water, you have to squat down and put your hands together in the river to fill them up and then lean on your mouth and wait for a quick load to consume, the same mechanism works for foods, to be honest, when I was eating, I opened my mouth like if that would change something. And there’s more, I could talk about numerous cool and interesting adaptations, the game is well produced, here we can throw rocks (that’s not possible for PC), light fires, and many others, and this is not hard and you learn easily.
You don’t have to worry about walking in this game, it won’t need much space, because we move by controls, you can sit and play.
We thank the PR Envolve team for making this content possible by making the game available through Steam.
