The violence in Starfield was higher at the beginning of its development
Starfield, like several other games, had some ideas discarded, and even though the game from Bethesda Game Studios, still has its level of violence, the studio planned to bring blood and dismemberment, which ultimately was not possible due to technical issues related to the suits that the player wears...
In a video chat with Kiwi Talkz (via IGN), Dennis Mejillones, an artist who worked at Bethesda Game Studios in the midst of its main games, such as Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield, talked about the space game suits and what made them a bit complicated.
"There were many implications with the different suits from a technical perspective," he said. "There's a lot that has to go with it. You have to cut the helmet in a certain way and it has to come out, you have meat caps at the bottom where the meat is." Mejillones added: "We had systems for all of this and it turned into a big rat's nest. All these things that you have to deal with now with all these crazy hoses on the helmets and all that kind of stuff that we added. Or now you can significantly change the body size. The character creator has evolved a lot."
Seeing Mejillones' statement, one can imagine how complicated it must be, and it is very unlikely that we will see this happen in a future DLC for Starfield, however, who knows if the game's modders can help us out?
Starfield was released in September 2023, directly on Gamepass, and had a neutral reception, which cannot be said about its DLC, which did not appeal as much to the game's fans. Still, it is interesting to take a look at our Review of the game, in case you want to take a good look at one of the most important exclusives for Microsoft in recent years!
