Final Fantasy XIV Mobile: Chinese Release in August and Promise of Faithful Experience to the Original
Get ready, Final Fantasy XIV fans! The long-awaited mobile version of the acclaimed MMORPG is about to land in China. According to information from the Chinese App Store, the game, titled Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World, is scheduled to be released on August 29, 2025. Although this date may be a placeholder, its specificity suggests that the release is near.
Developed by LightSpeed Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent, in partnership with Square Enix, the game is under the direct supervision of Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of the original title. The proposal is to offer an experience that faithfully recreates the engaging narrative and dynamic combat mechanics of the original, adapted for mobile devices.
Among the confirmed features are:
- Nine playable classes at launch, with the ability to switch between them through the Armoury system.
- Five available races: Hyur, Elezen, Lalafell, Miqo'te, and Roegadyn.
- Non-combat activities such as crafting, fishing, mining, and alchemy, maintaining gameplay diversity.
- Classic minigames, including chocobo racing and the Triple Triad card game.
- Detailed weather system, with over 600 different weather patterns, recreating the atmosphere of Eorzea.
It is important to highlight that Final Fantasy XIV Mobile will be free-to-play and will not feature gacha mechanics, a common practice in mobile games that involves obtaining random items through payment. Monetization will occur through an in-game store, offering mounts, alternate outfits, and level upgrades for characters.
The mobile version will initially cover the content of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, originally released in 2013, providing players with an introduction to the vast world of Eorzea. It is expected that, with success in China, the game will be released globally shortly after.
For those interested, it is already possible to pre-register on the official game website, guaranteeing early access to information and potential rewards at launch.
With a player base of over 30 million registered players and several acclaimed expansions, Final Fantasy XIV continues to expand its universe, now reaching mobile devices. We will have to wait and see if the mobile version will maintain the standard of excellence that established the original title.
