Outpath is an experimental indie clicker adventure game. Developed by David Moralejo Sánchez and published by UpgradePoint and GrabTheGames, the title brings different mechanics to exploration games. Its PC release date took place on October 16, 2023.
Clicks, lots of clicks

Outpath has the premise of mixing experimental clicker-style mechanics, in which you must accumulate clicks to automate processes that were previously done manually, with a setting of biomes, islands and places to explore.

The first thing I noticed was the pixel graphics. I really like games that work with pixel art, as I believe it gives a very strong characterization to that work, in addition, it manages to deliver the feeling of playing something more relaxing.

And that's how I felt playing in the first few minutes of Outpath. It's a very calm, comfortable and simple game to play. The game's central mechanics, which are thousands of clicks, brought a different version of what we are used to with farm games.

At first, it reminded me a lot of Minecraft, as it is a game in which we have to explore a lot and, mainly, due to the specification of the pixelated graphics. And, also, because they both have the same central objective of farming, building and exploring, with the only difference being the expansion of biomes.

Expansionist

We start the game needing to collect the initial items from the first biome. We are on an island that has stones, rocks, trees and plants and, by collecting these utensils (which result in wood, fruits, leaves, flint and more), we can build special tables and create tools.

The entire outcome of the exploration will depend on how you want to play. If you prefer to improve skills and weapons, you should focus on the requested items. If you choose to create more tables, you can use the research table (which has a cooldown between one search and another).

Now, if you prefer expanding biomes, which in my opinion is the most challenging objective, you should click and farm nonstop. This is because objects are generated little by little, and they don't stop appearing.

Since the game's core mechanic is clicking to collect resources, you can improve your tools to make the process faster. This way, you will farm more and in less time, earning more “click points” that can be used on a type of altar that is in the middle of the starting biome.

At this altar, you can donate “clicks” that you have accumulated and items that you have collected in exchange for expansion, generating more map space and, consequently, more exploration. I really liked the addition of this object, which is constantly moving and attracts a lot of attention, especially at night.

It's really cool that we can have more use for these devices, even if it takes a while to complete the objectives of this altar. It is something that brings an objective, a focus on missions, and a direction to continue the game.

In a world of small islands full of resources and details, Outpath proves to be a very fun title, which you don't have to rush to play. As mentioned, you can choose how you want to play, it's up to you to create your own style and improve as you see fit.

You can either focus on farming resources and using them in recipes or simply get a feel for the game by playing in a more relaxed way, exploring and learning new buildings.

Outpath combines idle game mechanics with exploration and adventure, and based on this, we were also able to choose to play as an active or idle player by activating the game's auto-click.

I know that this whole issue of countless clicks is part of the premise of the work, but, particularly speaking, I chose to have the experience of having to keep clicking to collect resources at the beginning. But, after a while, it became quite repetitive and I ended up choosing automatic clicking.

This is part of my game style and I preferred to focus on other factors in front of me rather than clicking several times on an element to destroy it, as it ends up becoming something uncomfortable in the long run (because this issue makes it a manual farm, which doesn't automate as quickly).

Even so, I would say that Outpath is a very comfortable game, and I really like titles that aim to relax the player. Outpath is colorful, lively, full of sounds that are pleasant to listen to and brings a feeling of fun very quickly.

Many islands and biomes

What caught my attention most about Outpath were the image graphics. The game is really very beautiful, colorful and with very saturated (happy) colors, which bring a good feeling when playing.
The play of shadows and lights was also something that was worked on a lot, bringing the necessary contrast between night and day (which is an important factor since there are several mechanisms, and even achievements, that involve the night).

Furthermore, it is a very characteristic work, largely due to the pixelated graphics. All the drawings of biomes, animals, vegetation and materials are very careful and have identification, not making them generic.

The only thing I noticed and found different was the activity of the animals. They walk from here to here and nothing more than that. When attacked, they don't show much of a reaction and stay still in the same place. I believe it is a question of animation, intentional, but it was a curious point during the game.

And, regarding the sound graphics, I really liked it because they have very good ambient sounds and cool music. The sounds of tools hitting objects, vegetation, the sound of collecting items, of items being made on tables and even of the character falling into the water are sounds that I really liked and that didn't have any blocking problems.

Taking into account that the game asks for minimum requirements of 2 GB of RAM, Intel Core i3 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 graphics card and I played on a PC with 16GB of RAM, Intel Core i5-9400F processor and GTX 1050 graphics card Ti, I didn't suffer any bugs or glitch, the game ran perfectly.

Thanks for the Outpath PC key that was made available by GrabTheGames.
