The Purifying Light 

Paranormal Hunter is a psychological horror game, currently under development by EALoGAMES. The game comes with a proposal very similar to other games of the genre, where you control a character who has the mission to neutralize a spirit in some place, and currently, the game has two maps, a house, and a hospital, but at launch will have other playable locations. 

And the game has some interesting mechanics, such as the flashlight, indispensable in games of this genre, which will be your companion during this journey of terror, with the function of normal lighting, but when facing an evil apparition, you can switch to the ultraviolet rays of the flashlight. These rays will have the power to temporarily weaken the monsters, offering you the opportunity to proceed with your task. 



As you meticulously explore the haunted environment, you will find crucial items scattered around the map. Each item has its importance, some are items that serve to improve the player's sanity that drops as time passes and apparitions appear, or items that are important to complete the exorcism of the specter that haunts the place. 

These items will need to be gathered in a mysterious pentagram that you will find as you explore the haunted environment, and it is crucial to locate and gather the items before the malevolent spirit eliminates you first or your sanity drops low enough to incapacitate you and you fail the mission. 

Also, it is important to remember that items are randomly generated. Therefore, there is no point in trying to memorize the locations where important items have previously appeared, because when you go back to look for them, it is likely that they will no longer be there, or at least not in the same positions.

Is anyone there?

Although the graphics in Paranormal Hunter are not the most impressive in terms of realism, they contribute to the game's creepy atmosphere and make it possible for the game to run on a VR without problems. The environments are dark, detailed, and often claustrophobic, which adds to the sense of fear and tension.

The maps are designed with enclosed environments and twisty curves, strategically planned to provide scary moments for players. When you hear the sound indicating that the ghost is approaching, uncertainty takes over, as it is difficult to determine its exact origin. He may be far away, or even lurking just around the next bend, readily waiting for you. 



The sound effects are also exceptional, with eerie noises, whispers, and beats all contributing to creating a terrifying atmosphere. The lack of constant music adds to the immersion and sense of solitude as you explore the haunted locations. 

The immersion in this experience is further intensified when played with virtual reality (VR) glasses, as was the case in this review. I believe the experience becomes much more impactful when using such equipment, as the game's features are optimized to frighten the player. 

While it may lack a few intense scares for experienced players, the social dynamic and the ability to play with friends make Paranormal Hunter a captivating option for those looking for a fun and creepy experience. So gather your friends, even better if they are fearful, and enjoy this paranormal adventure together. 

Promising or Disastrous? 

As mentioned earlier, the game is in the early access phase, which means that much of the content planned for the final release is not yet available. This includes other ghost types, items, maps, and a variety of other features. Against this background, the question is: even with the current content, does the game seem worth playing? 

So far, taking into account that much content will still be added, the answer is yes! The game shows great potential, even if it is currently not the most terrifying game in the world. I had a very fun experience playing it and I am sure that when it is finished and given the necessary polish, it will become even better. 



It is quite impressive to consider that the game is being created and distributed by an independent company. Also, it is being developed for a platform that has not yet been fully exploited, virtual reality, and manages to maintain a very satisfactory standard of quality. 

For these reasons, I believe Paranormal Hunter is a game worth playing, especially if you have access to virtual reality glasses or a PC and friends who interested in embarking on this frightening adventure. The experience of playing Paranormal Hunter can provide not only scares but also fun moments and laughs.
