25 years ago we had the launch of the first game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, which became huge on the PlayStation 1 and could become even bigger on the PlayStation 2. 25 years later we are happy to say that this will continue and that Tony Hawk himself, the Skate man, confirmed the return of the game, after Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2!

On his own Instagram, Hawk commented on the return:

"The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was released exactly 25 years ago today," Hawk posted. "My intention and expectation for the game was primarily for the pleasure of the skateboarders. I had no idea it would transcend a niche market to become a massive success and — as some have argued — change the course of skateboarding popularity (and possibly even the evolution of skateboarding tricks)."

Hawk's post continued talking about how the game showed him a new audience, outside of the extreme sports he was involved in, which was also great for the gaming industry, which had other titles inspired, bringing more and more sports to be played on consoles!

"[The game] is a big reason why I can skate for a living today. And most of the characters featured are still out there killing it and representing the diversity of skateboarding in the best possible ways."
In the post, Hawk had some images of him performing moves for the game's mocap in the development phase. "I dedicated myself to every aspect of this project because I believed we were creating something exceptional, and I am immensely proud of the series that followed... and its soundtracks," he added. "Thanks to Activision, Neversoft (RIP), and all of you who played THPS in those formative years. I shouldn't tease anything more about the future of the series, but there will be a future."

In 2020, Pro Skater 1 and 2 were remade with modern graphics and released as a single game, becoming the first major console game in the series since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 in 2015. In addition to the Pro Skater games, the series also included other skate titles like Underground, Shred, Ride, American Wasteland, Project 8, Motion and Downhill Jam.

Unfortunately, we didn't have more sequels to the game, as the company leading the project started providing support for Call of Duty, which didn't continue the project, but we will see it come back in a different way and maybe better than before!
