Xbox tests four new features for consoles

Meeting the ongoing requests from the community regarding usability and security in the ecosystem is the least that can be expected from modern console infrastructure. Microsoft has started testing four new features for Xbox with members of the Xbox Insider program — testing is debuting in the Alpha Skip-Ahead group —, bringing improvements in cloud save management, audio capture, trophy organization, and virtual store management.

Among the features under test, cloud saving gains an extra layer of security by allowing the restoration of previous progress versions directly from the management menu.

The new feature is launching selectively in Forza Horizon 6 — a title that gathered complaints due to corrupted files and required interventions from Playground Games — accessible via the path: Manage game and add-ons > Saved data > Restore saved data.

For content creators and groups of friends, taking screenshots now allows recording the audio of voice conversations during games. The tool depends on individual consent from each participant to enable microphone recording, working both in platform chats and internal channels of the games themselves.

Meanwhile, the achievements system received a functional adjustment in library sorting. Instead of limiting display by recent activity, users gain filters by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore, and total achievements unlocked, with options for ascending or descending order.

Available now to the entire user base outside the testing program, the wish list in the store has had its limit expanded to support up to 1,000 titles registered simultaneously.

Enhancing tools for data loss prevention and providing flexibility in voice capture addresses old issues that were bothersome in the daily use of the platform. Ensuring that practical resources move out of test environments quickly and reach all models in the lineup underscores the value of keeping users engaged within the network.
