Microsoft readjusted today, Microsoft, the prices of its entire line of Xbox products, including consoles, accessories, and, especially, games, with direct impacts also for PlayStation 5 users. The decision, anticipated by sources from Windows Central, marks a market repositioning that aligns with the pricing policy previously adopted by Nintendo, with the release of Mario Kart World for the Switch 2, already at $80.

As detailed, the new prices affect the following products:

  • Xbox Series S: increase of $80
  • Xbox Series X Galaxy Black (2TB): increase of $100, exceeding the estimated price of the PS5 Pro by $30
  • Limited edition controllers and wireless headset: increase of $10

Regarding games, smaller titles from Xbox Game Studios may still have price variations according to their scale, but the new ceiling for major releases will be $80. Games already available and ported to other platforms, like Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will remain at their original prices.

"Microsoft games released on PS5 will also follow this new pricing policy, except for those that have already been made available before," the Windows Central site reported.

Still without an official confirmation of the complete list, rumors about the arrival of franchises like Halo and Gears of War to PS5 continue to gain momentum, which could expand the impact of the price adjustment for players outside the Xbox ecosystem. The measure joins a market trend that began in 2022, when Sony and Nintendo started to revise the prices of their flagship titles, citing global inflation, unstable exchange rates, and increasing production costs.
