Xbox is working on an equivalent to Platinum in 2026
Acknowledging that a basic feature requested for over a decade by the community needs attention shows the current management's alignment with players' expectations. Asha Sharma, who took over the Xbox division earlier this year, confirmed that the development team is working on creating an ultimate achievement similar to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy, awarded to those who unlock all in-game objectives.
Expected to launch by 2026, the feature is rumored to debut alongside the release of Gears of War: E-Day.
The announcement of the feature is part of a broader overhaul of the brand ecosystem, including special badges based on Gamerscore and new filters on the profile tab to organize the played titles.
Plans to separate achievements from the base game and those linked to additional DLC content remain on the Xbox radar, with a pledge that new updates will be progressively rolled out.
Even though it started the digital achievements culture during the Xbox 360 era, Microsoft left the feature without significant innovations during Phil Spencer's management.
Taking more than a decade to respond to the ultimate achievement format highlights how the company long neglected players focused on completing games. Bringing this update to the platform addresses a historical oversight and restores value to the community's dedication to exploring every detail of the productions.
