Xbox has not had any exclusives nominated for Game of the Year since 2010

A remarkable detail in the list of nominees for Game of the Year at The Game Awards (TGA) of 2025 is the absence of Xbox exclusives, extending a "drought" that has been lasting since 2010. Insider Gaming pointed out that, despite Microsoft's strong investments in studios and Xbox Game Pass, no title playable only on Xbox has received a nomination in the most prestigious category of the event.

Before the era of The Game Awards, Xbox titles like Halo: Reach and Mass Effect 2 managed to stand out in the race for best of the year. However, since TGA established itself as the annual reference, Xbox exclusives have been left out.

For the Xbox community, the scenario is frustrating: the brand continues to fight for recognition in this type of award, while competitors like PlayStation and Nintendo maintain a regular presence. Although some games available on Game Pass are among the nominations of 2025, none of them is an exclusive of the platform.

The nominees for the Game of the Year category at The Game Awards 2025 are:

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Sandfall Interactive / Kepler Interactive)

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (Kojima Productions / Sony Interactive Entertainment)

Donkey Kong Bananza (Nintendo EPD / Nintendo)

Hades II (Supergiant Games)

Hollow Knight: Silksong (Team Cherry)

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (Warhorse Studios / Deep Silver)

The Xbox has not had an exclusive game nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards since 2010, as pointed out by Insider Gaming. Even with strong investments in studios and Xbox Game Pass, the brand remains absent from the main category, while PlayStation (Sony Interactive Entertainment) and Nintendo (Nintendo EPD) regularly feature with titles like Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Donkey Kong Bananza on the 2025 list.
