Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is confirmed for June with exclusive Direct of The Outer Worlds 2

Event promises to reveal heavyweights like Fable, Perfect Dark, and Gears of War: E-Day

The Microsoft has finally confirmed what everyone already suspected: the traditional Xbox Games Showcase is back in full force in 2025, and this time with a cherry on top of the controller — an exclusive Direct of The Outer Worlds 2, straight from Obsidian Entertainment.

The event's broadcast is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, starting at 10 am (Pacific time), which is 1 pm Brasília time. According to the official statement, the showcase will feature news from Microsoft's own studios, as well as "amazing new titles from third-party partners around the world."

Among the cards that can be played on the table, we have a list of titles in development that is, at the very least, ambitious. Fans eagerly await updates on Fable (recently delayed to 2026), the reboot of Perfect Dark, the steampunk Clockwork Revolution from inXile, Ninja Gaiden 4, the mysterious Everwild from Rare, the explosive Contraband from the studio behind Just Cause, and of course, Gears of War: E-Day, from The Coalition.

And it doesn't stop there. We also have the intriguing collaboration with Hideo Kojima in OD, the apocalyptic State of Decay 3 from Undead Labs, and the next project from Double Fine, creator of Psychonauts. All of these names are on the radar to appear at the event, with or without gameplay.

In the realm of Activision Blizzard, we already know that a new Call of Duty will be released in 2025, along with the highly anticipated Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, scheduled for July. On Blizzard's side, fans are hoping for news on franchises like Diablo, Warcraft, and maybe even something new.

Regarding Bethesda, the burning question is: will we finally see something concrete from The Elder Scrolls VI? Or perhaps an expansion of Starfield — and why not a confirmation of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 version?

And the hardware? Although rumors point to a portable Xbox and a next-generation console in 2027, it is still early for major revelations on this front. However, Microsoft may very well take the opportunity to showcase partnerships with third parties developing Xbox-branded portables — like the rumored ROG Ally X with branding from the line.

Immediately after the showcase, the The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be broadcast, an event focused exclusively on the new sci-fi RPG from Obsidian. The Direct will "provide a behind-the-scenes look with new gameplay images, unprecedented details, and developer commentary," according to the statement. The release of The Outer Worlds 2 is scheduled for the end of 2025 — and all indications are that we will see the official date revealed in this event.
