Xbox Game Pass Reveals Games for July 2025
The Microsoft announced the first batch of games that will arrive on the Xbox Game Pass catalog in July 2025. The selection includes titles for Console, PC, and Cloud, promising to expand the library of subscribers with new additions. This is a monthly practice of Microsoft to keep the service attractive and competitive in the game subscription market.
The regular inclusion of new titles is essential for Game Pass, which seeks to offer continuous value to its subscribers, from acclaimed major releases to indie games.
The following games will be added to the Xbox Game Pass in the first half of July 2025:
Valheim (PC, Console, Cloud) - Release on July 2. The popular Viking survival game from Iron Gate Studio arrives on the service, offering exploration, building, and combat in a procedurally generated world.
The Medium (PC, Console, Cloud) - Release on July 4. The psychological horror thriller from Bloober Team, known for its mechanic of two simultaneous worlds, returns to the catalog.
Sea of Stars (PC, Console, Cloud) - Release on July 9. The acclaimed retro-inspired RPG from Sabotage Studio, which was one of the highlights of 2023, will be available to subscribers.
Cocoon (PC, Console, Cloud) - Release on July 11. The puzzle adventure from Geometric Interactive, praised for its innovative spherical puzzle design, makes its debut on the service.
These games add a variety of genres to the Game Pass, from survival and horror to RPGs and puzzles, aiming to cater to different player preferences. The inclusion of acclaimed titles like Sea of Stars and Cocoon reinforces the value of the service.
The Microsoft continues to position the Game Pass as the central pillar of its strategy for the Xbox. The service has been a significant differentiator in the console wars, offering a vast library of games for a monthly subscription fee. In January 2024, Microsoft announced that the Game Pass had surpassed 34 million subscribers, consolidating its position as a leader in game subscriptions.
Despite rumors and discussions about the future of Xbox hardware, and even criticisms from former executives like Neil Thompson, who stated that Xbox hardware is "dead" in June 2025, Microsoft maintains its focus on expanding the Game Pass. The company has been bringing exclusive games to other platforms, such as PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, with the aim of increasing the player base and generating additional revenue through the service. The strategy seems to be to bring the Game Pass to where the players are, regardless of the device.
The July 2025 list reinforces Microsoft's commitment to maintaining the Game Pass as a value proposition, essential for the competitiveness of Xbox in the current gaming industry landscape.
