In 2021, it was announced during the Facebook Connect, a virtual reality version for the classic Rockstar Games, as we have already reported here! (GTA San Andreas Enters The Metaverse, Via Oculus Quest 2

After some time, the game stopped being presented, so that fans could see how the result was going, and unfortunately, we had the news that the project was halted without a definite date, which is understandable, considering that the game has a large open world map!

In a statement to IGN America, Meta said that they chose to focus on more important projects, such as the Behemoth project, a partnership between Meta and Skydance Games. But still, Meta shows commitment to continue their work with Rockstar Games, indicating that the version is not dead yet!

As mentioned before, the game would have several elements that needed to be analyzed and studied, and even in the announcement, Meta made it clear that it would be a project that would take a while to come, already taking away the happiness of those who expected to see the game released in 2024.

They not only want to make a version, but also rethink the adventure within the game, for the virtual reality glasses, which could open doors and maybe close some, but which could be a version that would give you the possibility to play the game in a completely different way.

Perhaps it was too big of a challenge for the giant of social networks, since they had only done a similar project with Resident Evil 4 VR, in its classic version, which has fewer resources than GTA: San Andreas!

Not only that, but the virtual reality segment has not been very profitable, since the company has invested billions and has not had as much return, which will certainly make Meta review many of its ideas for Meta Quest 2.

We hope that the development returns as soon as possible! In the meantime, activate notifications to stay informed of any news that comes out!
