Version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Switch 2 surpasses original PS4 Pro

With the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2 set for June 5, 2025, recent comparative videos have begun to highlight a significant change in how Cyberpunk 2077 runs on different platforms. The new generation version of Nintendo has been attracting attention for presenting notable improvements compared to the controversial original launch of the game in 2020, especially on the PlayStation 4 Pro, where performance was heavily criticized for technical and visual issues.

The channel Cycu1, known for visual technical analysis, has published a series of videos comparing the Switch 2 version with versions on other platforms. One of the most relevant videos places side by side the edition of Switch 2 and the PS4 Pro version 1.0, revealing significant advances in framerate stability, texture quality, lighting effects, and population density in the game environment.

"Even with expected technical limitations, the Switch 2 version delivers a cleaner and smoother experience than the game's debut on the PS4 Pro," points out Cycu1 in the video description.

In addition, the channel has presented comparisons of the Switch 2 with other recent and optimized versions of the game, such as:

  • PlayStation 5, with enabled ray tracing;
  • Xbox Series S, with dynamic resolution and performance mode;
  • Steam Deck, running the PC version with manual adjustments;
  • PS4 Pro (post-updates), showing improvements since version 1.0, but still below the next-gen versions.

These videos indicate that the Switch 2 — although not as powerful as the PS5 or Xbox Series X — presents superior technical capabilities compared to the previous generation, enough to run a originally problematic title like Cyberpunk 2077 with respectable performance. This successful adaptation reinforces indications that the new Nintendo hardware will be able to support major third-party titles, something that the original Switch rarely achieved without heavy concessions.

The version that will be released for Nintendo Switch 2 includes the full game with all updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion, which originally debuted in September 2023 and brought significant additional content to the game universe.

Cyberpunk 2077, developed by CD Projekt Red, had one of the most troubled debuts of the last decade, especially on previous generation consoles, with reports of bugs, crashes, and unacceptable performance. With the new version coming to Switch 2, the game seems to complete a cycle of technical rehabilitation — albeit too late for some players.

The expectation now revolves around the launch of the Switch 2 and its initial reception by the press and the public, especially considering Nintendo's history of more modest hardware, but focused on optimization and accessibility.
