Version 1.0.5 of Assassin's Creed Shadows brings fixes and DLCs
The patch 1.0.5 of Assassin's Creed Shadows is now available for PlayStation 5 as of this Tuesday, May 27, 2025, with just over 3.3 GB. Despite the size on the PS5, the package delivers a significant update in content, technical adjustments, and bug fixes — although not everything is pleasing.
Among the highlights is the release of the mission "Thrown to the Dogs", previously exclusive to those who had pre-ordered the game. It is now available to all players and can be accessed right after the mission "From Spark to Flame", still in the early hours of the campaign.
The patch also includes two crossover events: Dead by Daylight and Balatro. In the first one, Naoe faces a supernatural threat using "unique mechanics". Completing the mission guarantees a pendant and a themed flag. However, other content — such as clothes, weapons, mounts, and more accessories — were relegated to a paid package in the store, generating criticism for limiting part of the content to DLCs.
As for the Balatro content, it is more enigmatic. Players need to figure out how to obtain the trinket "Winning Hand" for Naoe and a legendary amulet for Yasuke, both with a unique perk that applies random effects at the end of combos. No additional details have been revealed.
The update also introduces a series of improvements to the parkour system, including:
- New vertical jump
- Blocking the run button
- Improvements to side and backward evasions
In addition, the Photo Mode received its biggest update in the franchise so far, with new features such as:
- Change of day time
- Poses and facial expressions
- Switching accessories like helmets
- Playing music during editing
- Sticker colorization
- New customization frames
- Custom filters
- Adjustable camera speed
- Improvements in visualization
On the technical side, the patch brings fixes for recurring bugs, such as persistent notifications of new items, incorrect save files at level 60, and issues in various missions like "Vision of Realms", "Wake Up Call", "Missing Missive", and the unstable "Diary of Lady Rokkaku". Some of these bugs were preventing progress or causing unexpected crashes.
There were also economic adjustments to the Mon system. Weapons like Samurai Daisho and Ronin were granting disproportionate amounts of Mon. Now, the prices of crafting materials and resources from the hideout have been increased at merchants, while the contract rewards have been raised to balance the system.
Visually, Ubisoft fixed issues with the horses Kaen and Sekiryu, giant NPCs in cities, as well as bugs with the Samurai Daimyo armor. The performance and stability of the custom hideout were also optimized.
The next major update for Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for summer 2025, but the focus is expected to remain on technical adjustments, given the volume of bugs still reported by the community since the release.
