Valve is back with a new project. The game Deadlock, a new multiplayer title from the company, received additional details that emerged through insider Tom Henderson.

Deadlock will be a 6v6 hero shooter that combines elements of MOBA, promising an innovative experience for players. Here are the main details revealed so far:

  • Gameplay Style: Similar to other hero shooters like Team Fortress and Overwatch, Deadlock introduces typical MOBA mechanics, such as a gameplay cycle similar to DOTA.
  • Heroes and Classes: The game will initially feature 19 different heroes. These heroes will be divided into classes such as healers, tanks, and assassins. The variety includes characters ranging from robots to mages, providing a wide range of playstyles.
  • MOBA Elements: Spread throughout the map, various AI-controlled creatures can be defeated to acquire the in-game currency. This currency can be exchanged for items that enhance the characters during the match.
  • Map Boss: A stronger boss will be present in the middle of the map, offering a greater reward for players who manage to defeat it.
  • Spirit Urns: Innovative mechanic where players can deposit coins in urns scattered throughout the map. This increases the team's money, encouraging cooperation.

Deadlock is still in the alpha development phase and does not have a specific release date. The game is expected to be released only in 2025. Valve is apparently investing a lot of time to ensure that Deadlock is a polished and innovative game.

Valve is clearly back to game development with full force, and Deadlock seems to be a promising bet for the future of multiplayer. We eagerly await more details and, eventually, the opportunity to test this new title when it becomes available.
