Ubisoft has confirmed that part of the planned improvements for the parkour system in Assassin's Creed Shadows has been implemented ahead of schedule, through update 1.0.4, quietly released last week. The update was initially focused on bug fixes and the addition of a new free story pack, but changes to the movement system caught the community's attention.

According to the official Assassin's Creed Shadows account on X (formerly Twitter), the enhancements were planned for a larger patch still in May, but the developers decided to implement part of the changes early.

"Community parkour expert Ropotopolous identified an early change in parkour with Title Update 4. Our parkour developers couldn't wait and added a subtle increase to consistently maintain vertical height while free running. More tweaks and adjustments are coming with the next update!"

These modifications include improvements in animations, higher jumps, and more precise direction when interacting with objects and surfaces. The adjustments were revealed by content creator Ropotopolous, a specialist in the franchise's movement mechanics, who posted comparative videos with previous versions.

According to Ubisoft, the full update will bring deeper changes to vertical movements, including lateral and backward jumps with increased height, as well as improvements in response time between actions. The intention, according to the company, is to make movement more fluid and responsive, something that the community has been demanding since the first trailers of the game.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for November 15, 2025, with release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is set in feudal Japan and features two playable protagonists: Yasuke, a samurai based on a real historical figure, and Naoe, a stealth-focused shinobi. The gameplay promises a mix of direct combat and infiltration, and focuses on greater verticality in structures - a challenge for the parkour system that has been adjusted since the project's announcement.

This is not the first time Ubisoft has tested movement adjustments in advance. Previous titles in the series, such as Assassin's Creed Unity, also received continuous updates after launch to refine mobility and command precision - something that has become a community requirement since the movement issues in Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Valhalla.

The next game update is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, and more technical details will be announced on official channels or events like Ubisoft Forward 2025.
