After months of updates and continuous technical support, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has surpassed the mark of 2 million players since its release in 2024, as officially revealed by Ubisoft. The number includes all platforms where the title is available, reinforcing the relevance of the franchise after years without new main releases.

The Lost Crown, developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, marks the return of the series in a new 2.5D format, heavily inspired by Metroidvanias. The game was released with support for 60 FPS, 4K resolution on next-gen consoles, and brings elements such as non-linear progression, temporal abilities, and technical combat with challenging bosses. Since its release, the title has received updates that added challenge modes, difficulty adjustments, and stability fixes.

In a recent statement, Ubisoft declared:

"We are thrilled to see over 2 million players dive into Sargon's journey."

Additionally, the company suggested that news about the Prince of Persia franchise is on the way, although it did not specify whether it is additional content for The Lost Crown, new productions, or updates on the anticipated remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, originally announced in 2020 and delayed several times since then.

This milestone reaffirms the strength of Ubisoft's intellectual property, and may signal a larger plan for revitalizing the franchise, which was once one of the most iconic in the industry, especially during the 2000s with the Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones trilogy.
