Become a combat master
If you've been playing Final Fantasy XVI and have been a little lost when it comes to the different powers and abilities that protagonist Clive Rosfield is capable of using right from the start of the journey when the game world is at your disposal, we've listed here which ones should be unlocked and upgraded to ensure a good start to your gameplay.
It's worth noting that you can unlock and master all abilities by spending Ability Points, which can be obtained by defeating enemies and completing missions, whether they are main or side quests.
Right at the beginning of the journey, Clive already has some initial abilities, but they don't really represent something of great value in his arsenal, so don't spend too much on them. In total, you can have three Eikons in Quick Use, each of which can hold two abilities.
Final Fantasy XVI is available for PlayStation 5 and will be released for PC in the future.

- Burning Blade: Cost: 25 AP. This ability allows Clive to deliver a powerful blow, but it needs to be charged in advance to be used. Despite some delay, you can already start charging the move before the actual combat begins. The ability is very useful, especially when the battle involves a series of enemies, due to the wide range of the area that can be hit. Hold the square button for a while.
- Quick Restore: Cost: 10 AP. This ability is essential during the journey and should be acquired as soon as possible, as it allows the player to return to combat instantly after being knocked down. Just press the L1 button when taking damage.
- Flames of Rebirth: Cost: 1695 AP. This ability creates a whirlwind of fire around Clive, which explodes when touched by nearby enemies, causing a significant amount of damage. Not only that, but at the same time, as enemies take damage, the protagonist gradually regains his life, making this ability indispensable.
- Ignition: Cost: 120 AP. Ignition is perfect for "cleaning up" an area infested with weaker enemies, allowing you to even control the direction the ability is taking. It's worth noting that you won't be able to use evasion while it's activated until the power ends. So use it wisely.
- Aerial Blast: Cost: 1540 AP. This ability creates a spinning tornado that seeks out enemies around you that are not your primary target. When pulled into the tornado, creatures suffer damage until the magic is no longer cast. It's worth mentioning that weaker enemies are thrown into the air, making it the perfect opportunity for combos.
