Tokyo Game Show 2026 will last five days and details were announced
The backstage organization and the creation of the visual identity of the fair were entrusted to the Computer Entertainment Provider's Association. The group unveiled the main visual art for the Tokyo Game Show 2026, featuring styles once again crafted by the illustrator Zashiki-warashi. The artist explained that, due to this being the longest edition in the fair's history, he conceived the main illustrations based on five distinct themes. These pieces depict the traditional girl from the teaser fully immersed in the event's atmosphere across five separate compositions, aiming to convey the pavilion's energy to both veterans and newcomers.
This year's event will feature a massive presence from the Asian and Western industries, marking a total of 759 exhibitors — with 484 representatives from the Japanese market and 275 international brands —, all occupying a gigantic space of 3,946 booths at the convention center. Industry giants like Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Sega, Koei Tecmo, Konami, and Capcom have already confirmed their participation to showcase their innovations to the public. Unfortunately, Nintendo has chosen to maintain its historical stance of isolation and will once again be notably absent from the pavilions, a regrettable choice that always leaves a bitter taste for the fans of the card giant, depriving them of experiencing new releases under the same roof as its competitors.
Interested participants in this historic celebration can acquire a special 30th Anniversary Ticket, which includes a commemorative pure gold medal engraved with popular game art as a gift.
Scheduled to begin on September 17, the TGS 2026 introduces a drastic change to its traditional structure by becoming the first edition in history to span five consecutive days. This calendar extension was specifically planned to celebrate the fair's three decades of existence on the global technology circuit. Extending the time for exhibitions to give more room to independent developers and major productions is a wise decision that values the computer and console market, allowing visitors to experience the games more leisurely. The complete and detailed schedule, including the list of participating companies, is publicly available for consultation on the event's official website.
