Toho and Aniplex Combat Piracy of Demon Slayer: The Infinite Castle
Toho Animation and Aniplex, producers of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, have issued a statement warning about the piracy of the film. Although the global release is scheduled for September 11, the film premiered in Japan on July 18, resulting in unauthorized recordings and pirated versions available online. The companies promise rigorous legal action against infringers, seeking civil and criminal measures.
The producers claim to be aware of the illegal recording and sharing activities of the film. They emphasize that such actions violate Japanese laws and ensure that they will actively pursue all those involved in the infringement.
"The responsible parties for Demon Slayer: Mugen Train even say they will resort to the courts to take legal actions, civil and criminal measures as part of their efforts to find and punish those responsible," the statement says. Even if the content is shared through fake or anonymous accounts, the companies will use all available resources to identify and punish the offenders.
Toho and Aniplex appeal to fans not to make illegal recordings of Japanese screenings and not to seek out pirated versions of the film. They emphasize that these versions do not represent the full quality of the cinematic work.
Despite piracy, Mugen Train is breaking all records for Demon Slayer, the previous film, which had a record performance in 2020 and helped revitalize cinemas after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the box office success of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train in Japan, the persistence of piracy is a constant challenge for the industry. Do you believe that Toho and Aniplex's aggressive legal approach will be effective in curbing the illegal distribution of the film and protecting their copyrights?
