Tips for your PlayStation Portal battery!

Liked by 0 people

Despite receiving some criticism, the PlayStation Portal is still a great ally for gamers who don't like to be in front of the TV screen all the time. However, the alternative needs to be carefully monitored, as you may end up spending more time playing on the PlayStation Portal, which can cause the battery to heat up, discharge, and need frequent recharging. Living with a device constantly plugged in is not cool at all. With the battery's lifespan in mind, I want to share some tips to help preserve it.

Here are 4 very important tips to make the battery last, not just in terms of playtime, but overall lifespan!

  1. Reduce screen brightness: This is an obvious choice. The brighter you keep your screen, the faster your battery will drain. If you are in a dark room, you should be able to keep the brightness close to the lowest setting, but you may need to increase it again to see the screen in well-lit areas. The brightness setting can be accessed in your quick settings tabs, or you can go to Settings > Display & Brightness. You'll want to do this anyway for the next trick.

  2. Turn off the light bar: The light bar around the edge of the PlayStation Portal controller looks cool, but it can drain the battery a bit. Since the light serves no purpose other than to show that your device is on, it may be worth turning it off completely. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness to disable this feature. While you're there, you can also turn off the mute button light, although I doubt that little light affects the battery much, if at all.

  3. Turn off haptic feedback and trigger effects: It goes without saying that the haptic feedback and trigger effects of the PlayStation Portal are fantastic, but they can also contribute to battery consumption in games that use them frequently (this is also true for the DualSense controllers of the PS5). If you go to Settings > Control, you can adjust the intensity of these features. I recommend turning them off completely if your goal is to save as much battery as possible, but even just reducing their intensity will help a bit.

  4. Set a reasonable time for entering sleep mode: Finally, make sure to set a reasonable time for the PlayStation Portal to enter Sleep Mode, which will turn off the screen and reduce the amount of power it uses when you are not actively using it. To adjust this feature, go to Settings > System > Battery. The best time setting would be 30 seconds, but even something around 1-2 minutes should help reduce battery consumption when you are away from the portable device.

Of course, these are some of the tips that can help preserve your device more and more. And if you need game ideas to enjoy on your PlayStation 5, or PlayStation Portal, we have some game lists being posted here on Mundo Gamer Community!
