Tencent Invests in Drama Studios to Accelerate Shooter Unrecord

The hyper-realistic shooter Unrecord received a significant boost: the Chinese giant Tencent announced a strategic investment in the French developer Drama Studios. The financial contribution aims to accelerate the development of the game, which went viral in 2023, and allow the expansion of the studio's team.

Unrecord gained notoriety after its two-minute trailer simulated the perspective of a police body camera, accumulating over 40 million views in less than 20 hours due to its extreme graphic realism.

Theo Hiribarne, CEO of Drama Studios, commented on the partnership, highlighting the value of the new partner: "After the sudden attention generated by our initial trailer, we worked tirelessly to create a game that meets the expectations of our community. He added that the investment will help the studio deliver "the first of many outstanding games."

The capital injection will allow Drama Studios to remain focused on the promise of Unrecord: a single-player experience defined by hyper-realism, immersive gameplay, and engaging narrative. The studio confirmed that the game has officially entered full production.

Despite the excitement around the development, the graphic realism and theme of Unrecord continue to generate debates in the gaming community. There have been questions about whether the images were actually a game or real footage, as well as discussions about the ethical implications of putting the player in the role of a police officer in armed confrontations.
