Tencent canceled Sniper Elite's battle royale, after Concord's failure!

The industry has been pretty crazy lately, and crazy in a bad way, that's the problem... we've had layoffs, cancellations, and even failures with 8-figure investments ($$).

Of course, with these failures, other companies tend to think about their next move, and that's exactly what happened with Concord, which when it failed, made some companies like Tencent, to rethink one of their ideas, which may not have been exactly bad, but if they canceled it, there must have been some reason.

Sniper Elite is a very well-known franchise, mainly for its X-ray of the human body, when you hit an enemy with a precise bullet. The game that in a way, is a bit absent from the news, returned today, as we found out from Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, that Tencent gave up on a Battle Royale mode of the game, because of the obvious failure of Concord, a game from Sony that ended up leading to the closure of Firewalk Studios.

"Insider Gaming understands that the game was canceled because Tencent decided not to continue funding the project. Although we have not been able to identify the exact reason, Rebellion executives hinted in meetings with the team that funding was withdrawn due to the disastrous release of Concord, from Firewalk Studios, which made Tencent wary about some of its projects."

Although the game was canceled, the positive part of this story is that no one was laid off, but certain employees were transferred to other projects, including Sniper Elite: Resistance.

Rebellion did not speak on the subject...
