Team Codemasters on F1 24: new features, enhancements, and more
With the release of F1 24 approaching, the Codemasters team, Lee Mather, senior creative director, and Simon Lumb, senior producer, shared some insights to discuss the new features and improvements that fans will find in the game.
Lee shared that the team has been attentive to player feedback and has already made adjustments based on beta program feedback, especially in areas such as stability, physics, handling, and AI.
He highlights the new Driver Career, offering various ways for players to achieve their goals in F1. Additionally, significant advances in the racing experience itself, including improvements in physics and the feel of the cars.
Simon confirmed that F1 24 will have extended support for Ray Traced Dynamic Diffuse Global Illumination, providing an additional level of realism in terms of shadows and light response.
Regarding NVIDIA-specific support, the game will now include the Frame Generation performance solution, hopefully bringing improvements for players who own NVIDIA's 40 series.
While the game currently supports triple screen setups, there is still room for improvements in the user experience. In terms of joystick support, they have added support for the Turtle Beach Velocity One, providing a more immersive experience for players.
There are no immediate plans to include additional racing series, such as Formula 3, in F1 24. The team is fully focused on providing an enhanced and deeper experience for F1 this year.
Regarding the engine switch, although adapted for F1, it is continuously updated to support the game's demands. While WRC has switched to Unreal Engine, the EGO engine remains the ideal choice for F1 due to its ability to scale and offer a high-quality experience based on available hardware.
With the release approaching, F1 fans have a lot to look forward to when the game hits the shelves on May 31.
