After months of uncertainties, Tango Gameworks announced on this Monday, May 27th, the official reopening of its office in Tokyo, now under the new management of KRAFTON, which acquired the studio in August 2024. The physical resumption of activities also marks the beginning of a new creative phase: the company is already recruiting professionals for an unannounced action game.

According to a statement published on the developer's new website, the office has resumed operations in a hybrid regime, combining in-person and remote work. "These things take time, but our office in Tokyo is back, and we are starting to fill it with memories from previous projects and elements of our new visual identity," the company said.

The hiring list is extensive and involves practically all development sectors. There are openings for senior application programmer, senior graphics programmer, senior system programmer, user interface programmer, senior level designer, senior animator, cutscene manager, senior VFX technical artist, senior character artist, facilities manager, and IT support. The technical requirements of the positions indicate that the new project will be developed in the Unreal Engine and will target platforms such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

The company's new website also reflects the brand's restructuring, now with updated visual identity, reinforcing the goal of repositioning the studio under the leadership of KRAFTON, a South Korean holding company also responsible for franchises like PUBG and The Callisto Protocol.

The reopening of Tango Gameworks occurs less than a year after the success of Hi-Fi RUSH, released in January 2023, which surprised the market with its rhythmic action proposal and cartoonish style. The game was quietly launched during the Developer Direct event, but received critical acclaim and gained a solid fan base.

There is still no information about the scope, theme, or timeline of the new game, but the profiles being sought indicate a medium to large-scale project, aimed at next-generation platforms. More details may emerge in the coming months as the team is formed.

The restructuring of Tango Gameworks also raises expectations about the studio's creative future, especially after the departure of Shinji Mikami in 2023, the creator of The Evil Within and a central figure in the developer's foundation. Under the new leadership, the studio seeks to balance its legacy with a new direction.
