Surprise update for the first 2 Doom!

In 2024 Bethesda Game Studios brought back, Doom and Doom 2, games that made a total difference in the FPS genre and now feature 4K resolution and 120 frames per second. However, fans still felt something was missing, and in the end, it was the lack of multiplayer mod support, which had been requested by the community for a long time, and now Bethesda Game Studios has indeed brought it back!

The community has been asking about this ever since, and finally Bethesda Game Studios added it to both games out of nowhere. To make multiplayer mods work, the host will need to activate their chosen adventure before entering the online menu, and all players will need to subscribe to the same creation before entering the match. Although Bethesda Game Studios says that everything should be "created with Vanilla Doom, DeHackEd, MBF21 or Boom to be compatible", this still makes modified multiplayer much easier.

The new update from Bethesda Game Studios also makes some more general changes to the multiplayer mode. Now you can use a spectator mode if you die during cooperative play, items can now be picked up by all players, and the general network code has also been optimized. Bethesda Game Studios clearly wants to continue supporting these older versions of Doom with improvements and new features!

If you haven't played the enhanced versions of both Doom games yet, there is a completely new episode that you can experience alongside them. Called Legacy of Rust, it was created by developers from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames, and features new weapons, demons, and levels to explore. The 16-map expansion is divided into two sections, The Vulcan Abyss and Counterfeit Eden, giving you plenty of new opportunities to rip and tear through some Hellish monstrosities.

It's interesting to see id Software and Bethesda Game Studios paying attention to older games, this doesn't happen with Grand Theft Auto fans, nor with Call of Duty fans, which is quite sad, so make sure to buy and play Doom: The Dark Ages with great pleasure, because id Software truly values its legacy and its fans.

The release of the new game is scheduled for May 15, 2025, which should be wonderful when we remember that they will bring something different, without departing from what was done in previous games, which is perfect when I remember we will have dragons with machine guns in the game.
