Supposed price of GTA 6 leaks and generates debate about values

Rockstar Games continues in its strategic silence, but the site Loaded — the former CDKeys — decided to test the community's nerves by listing Grand Theft Auto 6 with price tags bordering on the absurd. In the United Kingdom, the game appeared for £89.99, while in the American version the storefront displayed a surreal US$ 124.19. It's the kind of move that smells like a system error or just a lazy tactic to reserve space, but it was enough to ignite Reddit. If the idea was to gauge the player's pocket temperature, the result was a collective fever, although anyone with a minimum of common sense knows that digital key stores are not exactly the primary source of Take-Two announcements.

"I know most of us will pay, but do you realize how much damage the gaming industry can suffer if this becomes normal?" asked a user concerned about the rampant inflation of blockbusters. It's a valid criticism, as the market loves to use phenomena like GTA 6 to push new price standards down the consumer's throat.

"If this happens, people shouldn't defend it, but react as they did when Outer Worlds 2 was priced at US$ 80," another internet user recalled, pointing out that accepting these values without questioning is like giving a blank check to distributors.

Despite the scare, it is very likely that these numbers are just temporary markers. It's common practice in digital retail to put a high value to avoid losses in pre-sales before Rockstar Games finalizes everything. Furthermore, true official information usually first surfaces on Amazon or in PlayStation and Xbox stores, not on key resale sites.

With the release planned for November, the trend is for Rockstar to release the real details in the coming weeks. Until then, any value that exceeds the US$ 70 mark should be viewed with the utmost skepticism, unless you want to finance the next yacht of Take-Two executives without even knowing what comes in the standard edition. It's fun to see the chaos that a random number causes, but panic, for now, is completely unnecessary.
