Stores already receive Switch 2 and initial game line-up

Less than a month before the official launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 has already started to arrive physically in stores around the world, confirming that Nintendo's schedule is proceeding as planned for June 5, 2025.

Images released by employees and consumers in the United States, especially on networks like Target, show units of the Switch 2 stored in secure compartments within the stores — a clear sign that the logistics are ahead. The boxes remain sealed, still under the control of the so-called “transport cages”, used to prevent tampering or leakage before the official release.

The same scenario is repeated in Spain, where the physical packaging of the games intended for the console has already begun to be organized in the stocks. The early distribution of products, both hardware and software, reinforces the stability of the supply chain for the global launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will have a robust initial catalog. The main titles confirmed for launch include:

Mario Kart World

Elden Ring

Cyberpunk 2077

Street Fighter 6

The new generation also brings backward compatibility with the library of the original Switch, allowing immediate access to previously purchased titles. According to Nintendo, more than 15 games from Switch 1 will receive technical improvements, including reduced loading times, higher resolution, and more stable performance.

Furthermore, the console will expand support for classic backward compatibility, including for the first time the possibility to play GameCube titles via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, something that had been speculated since 2023.

Despite the early arrival in stores, Nintendo has not yet confirmed if there will be a final presentation to detail the system before the launch. The company usually holds Nintendo Directs close to important dates — as happened in February, when Mario Kart World and its "NPC drivers" concept were presented.

The launch of the Switch 2, direct successor to the best-selling hybrid console in the company's history, marks a critical moment for Nintendo in a more competitive market, with the PlayStation 5 Pro and new portable devices gaining space.
