Still Wakes the Deep Announces Siren’s Rest: Terror in the North Sea Returns

The acclaimed horror game Still Wakes the Deep will receive a new story content, titled Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest. The expansion is scheduled to be released on June 18, 2025, and promises to immerse players in a new narrative set ten years after the events of the original game, where explorers find the remains of the oil exploration platform, Beira D.

In Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest, players will be transported to the depths of the North Sea, exploring the underwater wreckage of the Beira D. Armed with a cutting torch, a crowbar, and a camera, the goal will be to reconstruct the final moments of the platform's crew. The game promises to maintain the atmosphere of horror and mystery, with the threat of "things hidden in the depths that not even the sea can claim."

The new story is written by Sagar Beroshi, known for his work on Helldivers 2, and features a new cast of voice actors. Lois Chimimba (Doctor Who, Shetland) stars as the main character Mhairi, alongside Lorn Macdonald (Bridgerton, The Lazarus Project) and David Menkin (Final Fantasy XVI, Alan Wake 2). The cast is once again directed by Kate Saxon, who previously worked on the original game.

The Beira D is now described as a "moaning steel catacomb buried in the dark depths of the North Sea." The narrative focuses on unraveling what really happened on that day in December 1975, when communications with the mainland were cut off and the platform sank without a trace. The character Mhairi will lead a saturation dive to the wreckage, acting as a "fragile light in the overwhelming darkness," with the mission to discover the fate of the crew and recover traces of their passage.

Still Wakes the Deep, released in 2024, was praised for its immersive setting and constant tension it delivered to players. The proposal of Siren’s Rest to expand this universe to the underwater environment and explore the mystery of a past event, adding a new cast and a story written by a well-known industry name, demonstrates the developer's intention to deepen the horror experience. The upcoming release date suggests that development is well underway, and fans of horror at sea can expect an even deeper immersion into the secrets of the Beira D.
