Stellar Blade's sequel will have a greater focus on the story
Shift Up, developer of Stellar Blade, revealed that the sequel to the game will not be "more of the same," with the promise of expanding the universe and enhancing gameplay. The studio seems determined to turn the initial success of Stellar Blade into a solid franchise, with even greater potential than the first game, which has already sold over 3 million copies across PC and PS5.
One of the main criticisms of the first title was the depth of its narrative. In response, director Kim Hyung-tae said that the sequel will have an "expanded universe" and "greater wealth of content." He also revealed that he exchanged ideas with Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, in search of inspiration to enrich the story, demonstrating the studio's commitment to addressing fan feedback.
Shift Up will not abandon the strong point of the first game. Kim Hyung-tae stated that "the sequel will inherit the action-packed nature of ‘Stellar Blade’, while also incorporating an expanded universe and enhanced gameplay, further solidifying its position as a franchise." The director anticipates that the new game will have "even greater success than the original."
The decision of Shift Up to focus on a deeper narrative and significant gameplay improvements shows that the company is listening to the community. In a market where player satisfaction is crucial, this approach could be the key to the long-term success of the franchise.
Shift Up is showing a commitment to improving the Stellar Blade franchise by focusing on narrative and gameplay improvements. Do you think this approach is essential for the longevity of the series?
