Stardew Valley creator confirms focus on new project!
If you enjoyed Stardew Valley and like games with a simple 2D vibe, you'll be excited to know that the game developer, Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone, has confirmed that he is focusing all efforts on the new game called Haunted Chocolatier. The developer ended up pausing the production of the game to focus on the latest updates of Stardew Valley and now announces the new game directly from his social networks.
In a new blog post, the creator noted that it was "a little sad to see Haunted Chocolatier gathering dust on the shelf", but as he got involved in the Stardew Valley 1.6 update, which went from technical changes to content additions, this "was like a snowball" and pushed him away from the next game.
The game had already received a trailer 3 years ago, but the game ended up on the shelf and the creator, even showing great love for the community that formed around the previous game, still wants to create new games and different experiences!
"I like making games, and I have much more that I want to share, with Haunted Chocolatier and beyond," he wrote. "And even though Haunted Chocolatier has been publicly revealed only to a small extent, in my own private world it is a special place, and I am very attached to the characters, themes and ideas."
"My next task will be to adjust the existing bones until I am satisfied with them, add all the rest of the bones, and then flesh out everything with all the content that needs to be in the game," he wrote. "Yes, it will still be a lot of work, but it's okay, I'm addicted to the routine."
The release is still far off, and Barone is not planning to do any kind of early release or fundraising campaigns until the game is launched!
"I will not release a game unless it is complete and I am very happy with it, and I think that's what most people would like, anyway," he supposed, although he still releases occasional development updates.
