During the Summer Game Fest 2023, an event organized by Geoff Keighley, fans finally got a real and in-depth glimpse of Alan Wake 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the dark action game by Remedy set in the Pacific Northwest. And folks, it looks like it's going to be quite scary!
It has been over a decade since Alan Wake, the original game, was first released on Xbox 360 in 2010. The game introduced us to Alan Wake, a writer, jacket enthusiast, and collector of thermos coffee bottles, who finds himself embroiled in an investigation into the disappearance of his wife in the quiet town of Bright Falls.
The game received critical acclaim and garnered a legion of fans with its eerie atmosphere in the state of Washington and a haunting story that seemed to be inspired by Twin Peaks. Although we had a small spin-off in 2012 titled American Nightmare, fans were eagerly awaiting a true sequel.
However, with Sam Lake's presence during the Summer Game Fest, a new gameplay trailer for Alan Wake 2 was revealed, showcasing a game even scarier than fans anticipated.
The gameplay trailer introduced a new playable character, FBI agent Saga Anderson, as she explores an environment that maintains the same Pacific Northwest vibe as the original game.
The wait may have been long, but it seems like it will be worth it. We can only hope for more information and an official release date to dive headfirst into the terrifying world of Alan Wake 2.
