Saber Interactive and Hasbro partner up for new game based on a major franchise

After the success of Space Marine 2, the studio is working on a new title using the Swarm engine

The Saber Interactive, which recently received much praise for its work on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is joining forces with Hasbro to develop a game based on one of its major intellectual properties. The information was confirmed during a Hasbro investor presentation, but details on which franchise will be adapted remain confidential.

What is known so far is that the game is being developed on the Swarm graphics engine, the same one used in Space Marine 2, which already gives a hint about the possible scope and style of the project. Given the success of the recent title from Games Workshop, the collaboration raises speculations about a game with a strong focus on cooperative action, possibly a third-person shooter.

Hasbro owns some of the biggest franchises in pop culture, including Transformers, Magic: The Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. With that, the question remains: which of these properties will be chosen?

Considering the work of Saber Interactive with Space Marine 2, which brought intense gameplay and dynamic combat, a new Transformers game in the style of cooperative shooter seems like a very plausible possibility. The franchise has had memorable games, such as Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, both well-received by the public and focused on frenetic battles with giant robots.

Another possibility would be a game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, an action RPG with advanced combat mechanics and cooperative exploration. As for Magic: The Gathering, being a traditional card game, it could require a completely different approach, perhaps in the line of strategy or deck-building.

Regardless of the chosen franchise, the collaboration between Saber Interactive and Hasbro promises an ambitious project. With Saber's expertise in action games and Hasbro's vast catalog, fans can expect a promising experience, especially if the company continues to focus on the quality demonstrated in Space Marine 2.
