Rumor about a new game in The Elder Scrolls series is debunked
Nurturing unrealistic expectations based on isolated snippets from resumes is a common trap in the gaming community, which often confuses corporate jargon with secret projects. A recent misunderstanding about an alleged new title in the The Elder Scrolls franchise was officially clarified by Griffin DeClaire, a former game designer at Bethesda affected by recent cuts from Microsoft.
Speculation took over the networks after fans discovered a mention of an "unreleased Elder Scrolls title" on the developer's professional profile.
By not specifically naming The Elder Scrolls VI, the incorrect interpretation gained quick traction.
In a conversation with the site FRVR, DeClaire clarified that the description referred exclusively to the sixth numerical chapter of the saga, a project in which he worked daily within the studio's engine before his departure.
This desperate search for any spark of news highlights the discomfort with Bethesda's slow pace. Revealed back in 2018, The Elder Scrolls VI has accumulated almost a decade of informational silence and very few concrete details have been shared.
The outlook becomes even more disappointing when we look at industry projections. Reports by Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, and statements from Microsoft itself, suggest that the RPG's release might only occur in 2028.
A lack of transparency in long-term schedules ends up generating this type of unnecessary noise in the market. Although it is unfortunate to see qualified professionals out of the project due to mass layoffs, debunking rumors is essential to keep expectations grounded while the anticipated game remains on a distant horizon.
