Roll animation in Battlefield 6 receives criticism in alpha test
While EA and DICE are preparing to officially reveal the next title in the franchise, tentatively known as Battlefield 6, a classic feature is making a comeback — but still needs a lot of polishing. The "landing roll" mechanic, previously present in Battlefield V, appeared in an early version during tests of the Battlefield Labs program, but was widely criticized for its current execution.
The leaked video was initially published by the BattlehubYT profile on X (formerly Twitter), based on information obtained by the Insider Gaming website. Although the original post was removed due to copyright issues, the recording was reposted by other users. The images show a rolling animation after high jumps — a useful feature to reduce fall damage — similar to Battlefield V, but with a slower, less smooth, and potentially disorienting execution.
The main criticism revolves around the first-person perspective used during the rolling. The abrupt camera movement in the current animation raises concerns among players about the possibility of causing motion sickness, especially in prolonged gaming sessions. However, it is important to note that the content comes from an alpha version, far from the final quality expected in a public release.
Although access to Battlefield Labs requires non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), several leaks have occurred. The DICE team itself urged caution to the community and reminded that what is being tested is "at a very early stage of development."
So far, EA has not yet revealed the game's official title. The full presentation of Battlefield 6 is expected to take place during the summer of 2025, with a scheduled release by March 2026. During an investor call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson reiterated that the launch of the new Battlefield will not be affected by the highly anticipated GTA 6, whose release has been rescheduled to early 2026 by Rockstar Games.
While official details are yet to be released, fans of the franchise remain attentive to every new information — even if it comes in the form of leaks — about one of the most relevant shooters of the last decade.
