Rockstar might release a disc version of GTA 6 in December
The official release schedule remains firm for November 19, bringing the title to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Those who opt for the digital copy will be able to start pre-loading the files on November 12, with pre-order packages already open at major global retailers. The biggest behind-the-scenes news revolves around a rumored revival for the traditional physical format. According to an investigation shared by the Polish portal ppe, the publisher is considering putting an edition with the game recorded on a real disc on shelves in December, exactly thirty days after the official debut on digital systems.
So far, the distributor has only confirmed that unfortunate box equipped with a little code paper for download, a petty maneuver that has angered the collector community who insists on owning a tangible product. This possibility of a delayed disc release emerges as an attempt to mitigate the damage to the company's image.
Rumors suggest that holding back the pressed media for a month would serve as a logistical shield to prevent crucial plot details from leaking online due to retailers delivering goods ahead of schedule. Some also speculate that this disc batch could hit the market alongside the launch of the production's multiplayer component.
All this movement around the disc needs to be approached with caution, as Rockstar Games refuses to comment on market gossip. It's a tremendous disrespect to the consumer to force them to buy the game twice if they want the empty box at launch and the real disc later, a cash-grab strategy that shows the industry's most greedy side. The situation remains unclear, and physical format enthusiasts will have to cross their fingers and await an official stance from the developer to know if the plastic on the shelves will return to having any practical utility.
