Ricochet blocks 97% of cheaters in the BO7 beta within 30 minutes

The Activision has released statistics from the Black Ops 7 beta that demonstrate a significant evolution in combating online cheating. The Ricochet anti-cheat system detected and dealt with cheaters at an accelerated pace, ensuring a safer experience. The success is remarkable: 97% of cheaters were detected in less than 30 minutes after their first sign-in.

The performance is proof of the effectiveness of enhanced systems from Activision. For PC players, the system now requires Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 checks, which have increased security against cheating attempts. The company ensured that less than 1% of cheaters managed to load into a map and interfere with other players' experience. The few who escaped initial detection were "removed in minutes".

The Activision stated that the Ricochet team hit the ground "running at full speed during the Black Ops 7 Early Access Beta. Cheaters were expected. But our updated systems caught them faster than ever, driven by TPM 2.0 checks and automated systems helping to eliminate a large number of cheating attempts. Most never managed to enter a match."

The Activision also reported that accounts shown in viral videos of cheating circulating on social networks in recent days were already banned by the time the footage was circulating, suggesting high speed of reaction.

Despite the encouraging percentages (97% and less than 1%), Activision maintained a lack of transparency by refusing to provide the absolute numbers of cheaters involved. This information is crucial, as "97% could refer to a thousand players, could refer to a million, we simply do not know", making it difficult to assess the scale of the problem accurately.

The security at the launch of Black Ops 7 is a decisive factor, as the game faces strong competition. The release of Battlefield 6 is scheduled for next week, and other shooters, such as Embark's Arc Raiders, add pressure. An epidemic of cheating would be bad news for Activision in such a saturated market.

With more updates for Ricochet planned for the Black Ops 7 release date, the expectation is that the game can ensure a drama-free experience for the community. Activision and Treyarch are under scrutiny to demonstrate that the anti-cheat system will work in the full version of the game.
