Remake of Silent Hill 2 boosts Bloober Team profits by 680%
Silent Hill 2 Remake, developed by Bloober Team in partnership with Konami, was responsible for an unprecedented financial milestone in the history of the Polish studio. In the fiscal year of 2024, the developer recorded a net profit of US$ 5.59 million, representing an increase of 680% compared to the previous year. The total revenue for the period reached US$ 23.6 million, consolidating the success of the title as a central piece of the company's strategy.
The remake, created in Unreal Engine 5, sold 2 million copies in just three months after its release. The title, widely praised by critics and players, was a turning point for Bloober Team, previously known for games like Layers of Fear, Observer, and The Medium. The studio highlighted that the performance of the remake not only strengthened its position in the horror games segment, but also paved the way for new strategic moves in the industry.
“The year 2024 brought Bloober Team a series of important achievements — both financially and strategically. The company consolidated its leadership position in the horror games segment: the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake was widely acclaimed by critics and players.”
“The game, created in collaboration with Konami, sold the impressive mark of two million copies in just three months after its release. At the same time, the group developed new lines of business and strengthened its competencies in the publishing area, in line with its long-term strategy focused on creating premium high-quality games and diversifying revenue sources.”
Bloober is already preparing its next project: Cronos: The New Dawn, described by the studio as “the biggest IP of the company so far”. The title will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, marking a new cycle in which the developer seeks greater creative independence and revenue diversification, focusing on multiplatform premium games.
In previous interviews, the studio had already signaled its desire to expand beyond the horror genre, and Cronos seems to be the most ambitious step in that direction since its strategic restructuring began in 2022.
