Remake of Persona 4 may be revealed at the Xbox event
Without an official announcement from Atlus or Sega, the alleged remake of Persona 4 gained new momentum with rumors that it will be presented this Sunday, June 9, during the Xbox Games Showcase, at 6 pm (UK time). The information was disclosed by the site MP1st, which also states that the game will be released for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC, although no release date has been defined. There is no information about a possible version for the Switch 2.
The lack of official confirmation did not prevent relevant movements behind the scenes. Two voice actors linked to the franchise recently declared that they will not return for the new project. Their absence was interpreted as another indication that the remake is in production, generating excitement among fans.
The format of the possible remake is still unknown, but there are reasons to believe that it will follow the mold of Persona 3 Reload, released in 2024. This remake modernized the gameplay of Persona 3, bringing mechanics inspired by Persona 5, and received generally positive reviews, although it was criticized for not including additional content present in other previous versions of the game, like The Answer.
There is also a strategic precedent: Persona 3 Reload was announced precisely during the 2023 edition of the Xbox Games Showcase, which reinforces the possibility of a new franchise announcement on the same stage.
Meanwhile, the franchise remains active with other projects. Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released later this month for PC and mobile devices, keeping the series name in circulation. As for Persona 6, the main focus of the series' fans, it remains shrouded in silence — except for a previous leak indicating development for multiple platforms.
With Atlus increasingly present in multiplatform announcements, this Sunday's presentation could mark another step in the company's strategy to expand the franchise beyond the traditional audience of PlayStation, especially after the commercial and critical success of Persona 5.
