Portable Xbox and ROG Ally 2 leak in FCC records

New unofficial images reveal two portable devices not yet announced, including what appears to be the much speculated Xbox portable console. The photos were found in a leak of documentation from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) of the United States, the agency responsible for certifying electronic devices in the country, and published by the website VideoCardz.

Although not formally announced yet, everything indicates that one of the models is the ASUS ROG Ally 2, and the other, clearly identified by a button with the Xbox logo, may be the first dedicated laptop from Microsoft Gaming. Both models appear in photos with finalized designs, suggesting that they are ready for production and release.

The device branded with Xbox presents supposed robust specifications for the portable market: an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores, 64GB LPDDR5-8533 memory, and a maximum power of 36W. These data have not yet been confirmed by Microsoft or ASUS, but if accurate, they place the device at the top of the current category of portable consoles, alongside competitors like Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, and the original ROG Ally.

Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, had already shown interest in developing a portable console. In a previous interview, he stated:

"I believe that a portable Xbox can offer a unique experience within our ecosystem, especially with Game Pass."

However, no technical details had been officially disclosed until now.

It is expected that ASUS will officially present the new devices at an event still in May 2025, and that the commercial launch of the Xbox portable will already happen in June 2025, if the rumors are confirmed. If this happens, Microsoft will officially enter the portable hardware market for the first time, not only with support via cloud gaming or xCloud, but with a dedicated physical console.

Now we just have to await the official confirmation from the companies involved. The arrival of a portable Xbox could represent a significant turnaround in Microsoft's strategy, especially at a time when the industry is seeing more aggressive movements in the mobile and portable sector.
