Pocketpair and the future promises for the Palworld universe

Amidst the ongoing success of Palworld, developer Pocketpair made two simultaneous announcements on September 22 to expand the game's universe. The news, a farm-themed spin-off and a collaboration with acclaimed indie game Ultrakill, promise new content, but the lack of release dates suggests that the projects are still in the early stages.

The main controversy revolves around the beta schedule. Although Pocketpair revealed the ideas through a trailer, the absence of premiere dates for Palfarm and the collaboration event with Ultrakill means that the announcements serve more to fuel the hype than to signal an imminent release. The rural simulation game is being developed with a focus on PCs, but there is no information on when the public will have access to more details.

The spin-off, titled Palfarm, was described as a "cozy" style farm simulator that, however, will not shy away from a dose of characteristic "aggressiveness" of Palworld. In the game, the Pals will be responsible for taking care of the farm, but they will also have to defend the crops from wild invaders. The unit management mechanics to fight off attacks is a different approach to the genre and may bring an unexpected challenge to players.

The collaboration with Ultrakill is an even more intriguing announcement, given the difference in tone between the two games. While Palworld is a mix of monster capture and survival, Ultrakill is a fast-paced shooter. Pocketpair mentioned that the event will bring various weapons and equipment from the FPS to Palworld. How the high-speed elements and intense combat of Ultrakill will fit into the world of the Pals has not been revealed yet, but the promise of a fusion between the two gameplay styles is a bold concept.

The announcements of Palfarm and the collaboration with Ultrakill demonstrate Pocketpair's ambition to expand the universe of Palworld. Although the lack of release dates requires patience from the community, the conceptual proposals of a farm simulator with combat and an unexpected crossover are promising and show the developer's willingness to explore new ideas.
