Player's cat receives emotional tribute from Warhorse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

If there's one thing that makes us love video games even more, it's when they go beyond the screen and touch people's hearts directly. And that's exactly what happened with "Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2", from the developer Warhorse Studios. Amid medieval battles and epic hunts, the game ended up becoming the stage for one of the most emotional stories in the gaming community in 2025 — an unexpected, sensitive, and love-filled tribute.

The protagonist of this true story is the user of Reddit, FriendlyBabyFrog, who shared a touching letter to the developers of the medieval RPG. In it, she thanked Warhorse for creating a game that helped her deal with the pain of losing her cat Peony.

"Peony would always sit by my side while I played. She would watch the boars on the screen as if she could really hunt them. The game brought me comfort in the toughest moments.", she wrote.

Touching response and official artistic tribute

What could have been just another post lost in any thread turned into something much bigger. Warhorse Studios, known for its community care, responded with something unexpected: a custom artwork of Peony, specially drawn by the studio's team.

In the image, Peony is depicted riding a boar, with the caption:

"Peony, the brave boar hunter."

The response not only moved the player, but also mobilized the entire community.
"I'm crying," she wrote in response, completely touched by the gesture.

"I would like to thank everyone again. I can't express how grateful and touched I am by all the lovely comments and messages I received in the last two days. Whenever sadness takes over, reading the comments makes me incredibly happy and helps me a lot."

The community also acted: Peony became a mod in the game

The emotion didn't stop at the developer's response. A Reddit user, identified as SirK3v, created a custom mod for the game: he added the image of the little cat on a sign within the Kingdom Come 2 scenario, allowing the tribute to exist within the game universe.
FriendlyBabyFrog's reaction? More tears and gratitude:

"This is more than beautiful. I really need this. Thank you so much, this means a lot to me."

Kingdom Come 2 and the power of games in healing

"Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2", set to be released in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, is the highly anticipated sequel to the acclaimed medieval RPG originally released in 2018. The new title promises substantial improvements in graphics, mechanics, and historical accuracy, maintaining its immersive style with a focus on realistic combat, non-linear progression, and dense narrative. The first demos have already confirmed new features such as:

New combat system with advanced physics

Dynamic weather cycle impacting gameplay

Over 250 side quests and 5 alternate endings

Full voice acting in English, German, and Czech

Official mod support from launch

But, as this story proved, there's something that even the most advanced engine can't simulate: real empathy.

Real-life alternate ending

Peony, the little digital boar hunter, may not be officially in "Kingdom Come 2" yet, but she has already entered history as a symbol of how games can comfort, unite, and immortalize dear memories. And who knows? With so much community support, it wouldn't be surprising to see her officially appear in a future update or special mission.

Warhorse Studios not only delivered a response, but also proved that they truly listen to their community — something rare and precious. And that, yes, even in a medieval RPG full of swords, politics, and fiefdoms, there is room for feline tributes made of pure emotion.
