Pirates Yakuza in Hawaii had such an absurd plot that when it was leaked, no one believed it!
A few days ago we had the reveal of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, by Sega, the game that would have Goro Majima as a solo protagonist for the first time, being a Spin-off of the Like a Dragon saga, where the character arrives on an island without memory, all beaten up and is helped by a boy and soon after needs to fight against, literally, pirates. The game also takes place after the events of Infinite Wealth.
The funniest thing about some of these details is that a good part of them had already been leaked a few months ago, but the leaked synopsis was so absurd that it was ignored.
In a 4Chan publication in May 2024, it talked about the details that would come in the next game. Not only the story of the pirates, but also the two combat modes that Goro will assume amidst the gameplay. One of them would be the normal one from the Like a Dragon series, where you do combos while knocking down enemies, the other would be Devil May Cry style, ignoring all normality and taking combat to a new level, where Goro uses a sword and a pistol, very much in the style of Dante!
The leak was very precise, even hitting the island where the game would take place, which is full of factions, which is great for the game's story to unfold.
It's great to see a spin-off take a different path from other games, which even though already has a lot of humor in a good part of the scenes, still shows that the promise made by the creators, that the game would continue to be a game about middle-aged guys, is still standing. Because any guy, whether middle-aged or not, would really want to exchange blows with pirates...
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii arrives on February 27, 2025, coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC!
