Paradox not only cancels 'Life by You', but also shuts down Paradox Tectonic studio
Paradox Interactive announced the cancellation of the game Life by You, a competitor to the popular 'The Sims', along with the closure of the studio responsible for the project, Paradox Tectonic.
Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, communicated the decision in a post on the company's website:
"This is difficult and drastic news for our colleagues at Tectonic, who worked hard on the launch of the 'Life by You' Early Access. Unfortunately, with the cancellation of their only project, we have to make the difficult decision to close the studio. We are deeply grateful for their hard work in trying to bring Paradox into a new genre."
The studio Paradox Tectonic, composed of 24 professionals, was founded specifically to develop 'Life by You'. With the cancellation of the game, the company was forced to shut down the studio, which had been working on the project for five years.
Although the closure of the studio and the cancellation of the game are expected steps given the situation, it is regrettable to see the end of such a promising project and the impact on the dedicated team.
The decision by Paradox to cancel 'Life by You' and close Paradox Tectonic highlights the challenges faced in the gaming industry, where even projects with years of development can be discontinued for various reasons.
